The New Earth ARMY: Improv Workshop
Annie Kouris and Levin O'Connor
You have psychic abilities that you aren’t using. That’s dumb. Improv is a lot easier when you harness your psychic powers. We will teach you how to tap into your vast potential and embrace your unique powers both on and off the stage. But how?!
Judgment of yourself is keeping you shackled to the same old safe choices. But you have so much more to share. And in order to expand as an artist you must open yourself to the possibility that there is something more. Del Close said, “Great long form is 8 people falling down the stairs and landing on their feet.” Stop walking down those stairs and let go of the polite choices. Accept who you are and get rid of all the labels life has put on you. You can choose to be vulnerable and trust in yourself and your ensemble. This is the first step.
Groupmind is real. Before you can be a part of it, you must first love and embrace your individuality. Let us help set you free to…BE ALL YOU CAN BE.
Sustaining a Scene
Craig Cackowski
Sure, your scenework's pretty good. But can you do a 10-minute scene? A 20-minute scene? An hourlong scene? Craig Cackowski shares some of the techniques he's learned about long. slow, patient scenework from his years working with such groups as Dasariski and Quartet.
Expose your UnderWhere
David Razowsky
One of the first things to escape you when you hit that stage is your “where,” the objects around you, and, well, you know why: because you’re thinking about “where to put things.” This workshop’ll connect you to everything that’s already there, freeing you from thinking and encouraging you to see, helping you explore relationships and create characters in ways you’ve never done before.
The Game of the Scene
Suzi Barrett
What is the "game of the scene?" Why should I worry about this? Isn't who/what/where enough?
In this workshop, we will work on giving your scenes focus and purpose by identifying and playing games. Practice finding games in organic scenes, as well as starting scenes with a game in mind. Learn how to create successful second beats that follow a character's game rather than plot points. Who/what/where is a wonderful vehicle... but game will make your scenes go!
Laugh til ya Pee a little! Fun time with Short Form Games!
Aaron Krebs
Hey gang….let’s have fun with some short form games. The styles and techniques that short form improv games offer can directly be used in long form too. This workshop is about polishing and tightening that short form performance so you get to the heart of your scenes, games, whatever quickly. These are also GREAT techniques for all my long form friends. Come by and have a great and informative workshop that takes us back to the heart of improv. The Short Form Game!!!! This is NOT Zip, Zap, Zop and Big Booty. This workshop focuses on strong choices, characters, offering the interesting vs. the obvious. We will be doing real, powerful, polished, intelligent, short form work and keeping everyone out of crazy town. No more packy the wacky.
