Improv Utopia Spain will be our third international retreat and is a more intimate experience than our others. With a smaller group of improvisers and only two teachers you’ll have a chance to have a more focused and intimate training taught by some of the best instructors in the world. You will also be able to go to the beach, day and night hikes on the Mediterranean, shopping, bar hopping and more! Our retreat is all inclusive, your meals, accommodations, bedding, workshops are all included.
Improv Utopia Spain is taking place in Zenia Hostel, in the town of La Zenia on the Orihuela Costa in the Alicante province of the Valencia Region. Unlike our other retreats, this one is taking place in an urban location. Spain uses the Euro and electrical plugs are European 2 pin. The accommodations: http://www.zeniahostel.es. While we are in an urban area, the venue is private and secluded. They provide bedding and toweling, Each room has its own dedicated shower and toilet. The venue also has a large outdoor space, with sun terrace, swimming pool and barbecue area. There is a fully fitted kitchen with wash facilities. There is free on street parking.
The Orihuela Costa is a hamlet and a set of towns. It’s a very popular area for tourism and as such has a large international population. It’s a semi-arid climate that sees an average of 300 days of sunshine a year. Average daytime temperate in April/May are 18c – 23c (64f – 73f).

Improv Utopia Spain será nuestro tercer retiro internacional, en una experiencia más íntima que nuestros eventos anteriores. Con un grupo más pequeño de improvisadores y solo dos profesores, tendrás la oportunidad de tener una experiencia de taller más enfocada e íntima impartida por algunos de los mejores instructores del mundo. ¡También podrás ir a la playa, hacer paseos diurnos y/o nocturnos por la costa Mediterránea, ir de compras, de bares… ¡y mucho más! Nuestro retiro incluye todo: comidas, alojamiento, ropa de cama y talleres.
Improv Utopia Spain tiene lugar en el Zenia Hostel, en la localidad de La Zenia, en la costa de Orihuela y en la provincia de Alicante. A diferencia de nuestros otros retiros, este se lleva a cabo en una ubicación urbana. España utiliza el Euro y los enchufes eléctricos son europeos de 2 pines.
El alojamiento: http://www.zeniahostel.es. Si bien estamos en un área urbana, el lugar es privado y está aislado. Incluye ropa de cama y toallas. Los dormitorios tienen capacidad de entre 4 y 8 personas en literas y camas individuales. Cada habitación tiene su propia ducha y WC. El local también cuenta con un amplio espacio exterior, con solárium, piscina y zona de barbacoa. Hay una cocina totalmente equipada con instalaciones de lavado. Hay aparcamiento gratuito en la calle.
La costa de Orihuela es una pedanía y un conjunto de pueblos. Es un área muy popular entre el turismo y, como tal, tiene una gran población internacional. El clima semiárido característico tiene un promedio de 300 días de sol al año. La temperatura media diurna en abril/mayo oscila entre 18c a 23c (64f a 73f).

There is a one time non-refundable Camp Network fee of $3.99 and processing fees equal to 3.95 % + $0.30.

Inspired by the use of symbolism in playback theatre, this workshop explores different ways of expressing ourselves within a scene, escaping the obvious and play whatever and however you like. Discover the treasures you can use on stage. Poetry, song, body, metaphor… do as you please! This is a safe space to ditch logic and explore where your body, voice, and imagination can lead you while working from real experiences and feelings within the group. Are you ready to go full avant-garde?
About Ferran Luengo
Ferran Luengo is a Spanish actor, improviser and applied theatre facilitator based in London with broad experience working with different communities in several countries.
Coming from scripted theatre, he started improv 15 years ago. He trained with Spanish and international teachers, including doing The Annoyance intensive in Chicago. In Spain, he was part of the Quart de Poblet improv league as organiser and performer for six years and also co-founded the English-speaking group Valencia Improv Playground. Currently, in London, he improvises with Not GCSE Drama, the musical improv troupe Off Stave, and he's a Hoopla Impro house team member.
He is passionate about playback theatre, a community-based improv form that he's been doing for ten years now. Founding member of Teatro Playback Inestable, organiser of the Iberian Playback Theatre yearly gathering and secretary of the IPTN. He performs and facilitates now in the UK with London Playback and True Heart Theatre.
As an applied theatre facilitator and performer, he is committed to theatre in education, facilitating and performing in several schools and colleges across London.

Este es un espacio seguro para deshacerte de la lógica y explorar hacia dónde te pueden llevar tu cuerpo, tu voz y tu imaginación mientras trabajas a partir de experiencias y sentimientos reales con el grupo. About Ferran Luengo
Ferran Luengo es un actor, improvisador y facilitador de teatro aplicado español basado en Londres con amplia experiencia trabajando con diferentes comunidades en varios países.
Viniendo del teatro convencional, comenzó a improvisar hace 15 años. Se ha formado con profesores españoles e internacionales, incluyendo el intensivo de The Annoyance en Chicago. En España, formó parte de la liga de improvisación Quart de Poblet, como organizador y jugador, durante seis años y también cofundó el grupo de habla inglesa Valencia Improv Playground. Actualmente, en Londres, improvisa con Not GCSE Drama, la compañía de improvisación musical Off Stave, y es improvisador residente en Hoopla Impro.
Es un apasionado del teatro playback, una estilo de improvisación comunitaria que lleva practicando ya durante diez años. Miembro fundador de Teatro Playback Inestable, organizador del Encuentro Ibérico de Teatro Playback y secretario de la IPTN. En el Reino Unido, actúa y facilita con London Playback y True Heart Theatre.
Como facilitador de teatro aplicado, está comprometido con el teatro en la educación, facilitando y actuando en varias escuelas y universidades de Londres.

So, you may have some improv under your belt or maybe even a lot. But this class, wants to not only make you a great improviser, it wants to help make you a good character actor. In order to be a great realistic character you have to have emotional, physical, behavioral commitment and a strong POV. This is what makes a great well-grounded sustaining character. In this intensive in Spain, we will work on making one great character for you and perfect it throughout the weekend showing you what it takes to make a solid character.
About Nick Armstrong
Nick is an Actor, Improvisor and Writer. On TV, Nick has been on the Emmy-Award winning shows The Office and Grey's Anatomy. He has also made appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live, New Girl, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Stan Against Evil and Parks and Recreation.
Nick trained in sketch and improv at the world famous Groundlings and iO West. His onstage performance credits include LA's critically acclaimed Harold Team King Ten, Kind Strangers and The Groundlings Sunday Company. He served as Artistic Director at M.I's Westside Comedy Theater and currently owns and is Managing Director of RISE Comedy in Denver, Colorado. Nick has also taught improv at iO West, The Groundlings, RISE Comedy, M.I's Westside Comedy Theater and has done workshops and headlined comedy festivals all over the world.

En este intensivo en España, trabajaremos para crear un personaje a tu medida y lo perfeccionaremos durante el fin de semana mostrándote lo que se necesita para construir un personaje sólido.
